Andy Connor is an Associate Professor in Colab at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. His undergraduate training is in mechanical engineering and he holds a PhD in mechatronics. Following a number of years of commercial experience as a Software Engineer and a Systems Engineering Consultant, Andy emigrated from the UK to New Zealand and took up a number of roles in Software Engineering and Computer Science at Auckland University of Technology prior to joining Colab in 2012.

My creative side mostly comes through my interest in photography, an interest that has spanned over twenty years. As well as integrating photography in to my teaching practice, I also regularly take photos for fun.

Research Projects
I've recently completed a research project run in conjunction with undergraduate student Jacques Foottit looking in to the use of wearable, tangible interfaces with a particular focus on using the glove as a game controller.
Immersive Data Visualisations
Another recent project was the integration of a wide area motion capture suite with a consumer Virtual Reality headset for the visualisation of scientifc and engineering data in conjunction with my colleague Dr Stefan Marks and industry partner Stimson Yachts.
